Zoe Ball's Radio 2 Breakfast Show replacement revealed

Zoe Ball’s replacement for her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show has been revealed after she announced that she would be taking some time out to support her mum who has been diagnosed with cancer.

Taking to social media on Wednesday, the Radio DJ, 53, said she and her family were going through “tough times” following her mum Julia Peckham's diagnosis, but praised her for being “brave”.

She posted two pictures on Instagram, one showing her family rallying around Ms Peckham and another showing her undergoing chemotherapy while wearing a t-shirt with an inspirational slogan, which read: “This morning is amazing and so are you”.

The mum-of-two also thanked friend Gaby Roslin, who has been filling in for her on the air in recent weeks and suggested that the presenter, 59, would be covering her future shifts too.

Roslin commented on the post saying: “Love you Zoe and such huge love to your beautiful mummy.”

A number of Ball’s other celebrity friends and colleagues also sent messages of support at this difficult time.

“Sending you and your family the most love x and an extra special cuddle to your mum,” wrote Claudia Winkleman.“Oh Zoe my darling, this is awful news and I’m so sorry. Sending your mama so much love and strength to take on the challenges she now faces, and to you too, in supporting her. Massive massive cuddles to you all,” penned Sarah Cawood, who herself has battled cancer.

While Dermott O’Leary, Paddy McGuinness and Charlotte Hawkins also sent their love.
