Zoe Ball is hoping she’ll be ready to return to Radio 2 presenting duties soon after over a week off due to illness.

The star, 48, was struck down by the flu last week and has been absent from the Radio 2 Breakfast Show and Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two since last Monday.

On Tuesday morning, she was temporarily replaced on the airwaves by Gary Davies, who usually presents the station’s late night slot on Fridays.

Tweeting ahead of her seventh missed show, Ball said: “Flippin heck. Don’t get flu it’s a nasty bugger. Thanks to @djgarydavies for captain’ing the breakfast show today. Seen the doc.

“Should be back to both breakfast and it takes two duties Wednesday. Sorry for absence. #takeyourvits honestly can’t wait to be back.... love to all.”

She posted the same message on Instagram, alongside a cartoon of Snoopy Dog as a doctor.

Ball hosts It Takes Two solo on Wednesdays and Thursdays, before uniting with Rylan Clark-Neal every Friday.

Last week saw Gethin Jones, a former Strictly contestant, take her place.

Ball has received kind messages from a number of her celeb pals, including Gaby Roslin, who wrote on Instagram: “No way. Poor you my darling. Get well!”

“Get better soon gorge,” added Strictly champion Ore Oduba.
