Zoe Ball enjoys a birthday getaway as son Woody Cook puts a smile on mum's face

Sons always know when to cheer their mum up, and Woody Cook is certainly no different.

He treated Zoe Ball to a cute birthday message and lovely gifts as she celebrated turning 49 on Saturday.

Zoe and her construction boss boyfriend Michael Reed have called it quits , it has been claimed.

It was her first relationship since the suicide of Billy Yates in 2017.

Friends say the Radio 2 breakfast show host didn't see a long-term future with him.

Zoe is said to have wanted to spend more time with children Woody, 18, and Nelly, nine, and focus on her career.

He may not have been with her on Saturday but her son gave her plenty of birthday love.

The Circle star took to Instagram to call the presenter 'the best mum I've ever had' and posted photos of them together.

He captioned the post: "Wishing a wonderful Birthday to the best Mum I’ve ever had!! Sorry couldn’t be there today but I love you lots!!!!!! xx #legend."

She showed off her gifts in her own Instagram post as she took a trip to the New Forest.

She said: "Thank you for the birthday love peeps. Being spoiled rotten #limewoodhotel #newforest #hideaway #escapetothecountry #countrymonkeys #cakeface."

Zoe reportedly ended her relationship with Michael last week.

“Zoe knew deep down the relationship wasn’t going anywhere," a source told The Sun.

Woody couldn't be with Zoe, who has been enjoyed a New Forest break (PA)

“She enjoyed her time with Michael but came to the conclusion he wasn’t a keeper, despite him believing they were getting serious.

“There were certain things she grew uncomfortable with, such as him wanting to become a model and act.

"Her close circle feared he was using her to enhance his own career.”
