A statue of Zlatan Ibrahimovic been set on fire outside Malmo's stadium after fans angrily protested against the striker being a part-owner of bitter rivals Hammarby.
The 38-year-old striker has bought a 50% stake in AEG Sweden, who have a minority stake in Hammarby.
The ex-Inter Milan attacker, who left LA Galaxy in the summer, started his career with Malmo from 1999 and 2001 and the club honoured the talisman by unveiling a statue of him outside their stadium last month.
But with news the former Manchester United and Barcelona forward has invested in their rivals, Malmo fans defaced the statue earlier today and now footage has emerged of supporters setting it on fire.
Ibrahmovic opened up about the decision, saying: "Hammarby is a great club, with passionate supporters and a respected history in Stockholm and throughout Sweden.
"I am excited for the opportunity to continue my relationship with AEG while supporting one of the most interesting and influential clubs in Sweden."
AEG's president and chief executive Dan Beckerman added: "Hammarby is one of the most historic clubs in Swedish football and we believe that adding Zlatan Ibrahimovic, one of the world's most respected and experienced players, will create additional opportunities for the club," said AEG's president and chief executive Dan Beckerman.
"AEG will continue to hold our remaining ownership shares in Hammarby and support the club's operations and development, but now it will be in collaboration with one of the most knowledgeable and iconic players of all time."
