Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaves LA Galaxy and tells fans to 'go back to watching baseball'

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has confirmed his impending exit from Los Angeles Galaxy, instructing supporters of the Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit to now "go back to watching baseball".

The 38-year-old's contract at Dignity Health Sports Park is due to expire at the end of December and there has been plenty of speculation regarding his future over recent months.

Ibrahimovic spent two years in the United States after leaving Manchester United and last season scored 31 goals in as many games to lead the Galaxy to their first play-off appearance since 2016.

However, a 5-3 defeat to rivals LAFC last month saw their championship hopes curtailed in the Western Conference semi-finals.

Confirming his departure on social media, Ibrahimovic - who missed out to Carlos Vela in the MLS MVP race - hinted that his long and illustrious football career was set to continue elsewhere.

"I came, I saw, I conquered. Thank you @lagalaxy for making me feel alive again," he said.

"To the Galaxy fans - you wanted Zlatan, I gave you Zlatan.

"You are welcome. The story continues...Now go back to watch baseball."
