Zlatan Ibrahimovic issues bizarre response to Mino Raiola over Arsenal transfer claim

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has responded to Mino Raiola after the agent insisted that Henrikh Mkhitaryan has not told Arsenal he wants to leave.

Reports in Italy had claimed that Mkhitaryan sent a message to Arsenal to declare that he was set on leaving the north London club this summer.

"My time in London is over, I hope you manage to find an agreement with Rome because my desire is to stay," Mkhitaryan allegedly said, in quotes attributed to him.

Raiola, however, insists that his client did not make those comments and said: "Mkhitaryan did not send any message to Arsenal. Especially in times like these, fake news is completely unacceptable."

But Ibrahimovic, who is also represented by Raiola, took to Twitter to seemingly refute his agent's message.

The Swedish striker wrote: 'No it is true News it is acceptable.'

Mkhitaryan has enjoyed an impressive season on loan from Arsenal with the Italian giants, scoring six goals and providing three assists at a rate of one goal involvement per 90 minutes in his 13 Serie A appearances.

football.london understands Arsenal are eager to move on Mkhitaryan, whose near £200,000-a-week contract makes him the second-best paid player at the club after Mesut Ozil.

Equally Roma head coach Paulo Fonseca and club captain Edin Dzeko have publicly expressed a desire to keep the 31-year-old.

However no talks have yet taken place with Roma as neither side is yet clear on how much money they will have to spend in the summer after the coronavirus pandemic.

Mkhitaryan has one year left to run on his contract at Arsenal but has slipped down the pecking order after struggling to make a success of his time at the Emirates Stadium.

He scored just nine goals in 59 appearances and has been superceded by the likes of Reiss Nelson, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.
