Zlatan Ibrahimovic hints at Man Utd return: 'If United need me, I'm here'

Zlatan Ibrahimovic claims he could still do a job for Manchester United.

The 37-year-old issued a message to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after extending his strike rate to 44 goals in 49 games for LA Galaxy in Sunday’s 3-3 draw with LAFC.

United have been left with no senior cover in attack after agreeing to send Alexis Sanchez on loan to Inter Milan for the season.

Romelu Lukaku also joined the Italian giants this summer - leaving Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and 17-year-old Mason Greenwood as Solskjaer’s only striking options.

Ibrahimovic would not be available until the January window after the MLS season ends. But he hinted he could be ready for a new challenge if he wins silverware with Galaxy.

"I could play easy in the Premier League, so if United need me, I'm here," he said. "But Galaxy has me, so I'm sorry.

"Nah, I did my job in Europe. I enjoyed it, I have 33 trophies that I brought with me here and hopefully I can get something here. And then we will see where that adventure finishes."

Sanchez isn’t the last player who could depart United before transfer windows close across Europe on September 2.

Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian are both available if clubs meet United’s valuations of around £25m and £12m respectively.

Paul Pogba’s future has been the subject of uncertainty all summer, but United are adamant the France international will not leave during this window.

Ibrahimovic is a close friend of the midfielder and added: "I speak with him. A lot of advice I give - but nothing I share with you!"
