Zion Williamson just got a little shorter

The NBA is cracking down on teams lying about their players’ actual height and weight this year, and all clubs must submit precise measurements for each player this preseason.

It’s a generally accepted rule of thumb that players are shorter than what they’ve been listed as in college, and debates have been raging about Kevin Durant’s actual height since he made it to the league in 2007.

On Friday, Shams Charania reported that the NBA’s new policy has resulted in some surprising information about the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft. Zion Williamson, it turns out, isn’t 6-foot-7 after all.

Via The Athletic:

No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson measured officially at 6-foot-6, league sources said. The phenom was listed at 6-foot-7 during his freshman season at Duke.

There are already some basketball analysts doubting whether Williamson has the right body type to succeed in the NBA, and while Zion believers don’t seem to be bothered by the one-inch difference, plenty of critics sounded off on social media.
