While fans and analysts argue over whether Zion Williamson should walk away from college basketball to prepare for the NBA, the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils will take on Syracuse in the Carrier Dome on Saturday without the top prospect in the country.
Zion Williamson suffered a Grade 1 right knee sprain against North Carolina on Wednesday, which coach Mike Krzyzewski initially described as “mild.” On Thursday, Duke listed Williamson as day-to-day. According Stadium’s Jeff Goodman, Willamson could return next week.
Coach K said on his weekly radio show that Duke is doing “what’s in the best interest” of Williamson, and that there’s no rush for Zion to return
Via ESPN:
“I think that everyone wants to know his status, and it’s still — we don’t have a timetable, but the preliminary reports that we have on Zion’s injury are all optimistic — very, very good…. There’s no rush. You want to make sure he’s completely at 100 percent.”
Duke plays Syracuse at 6:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
