Zion Williamson gave JaVale McGee his jersey, didn’t stick around to get one back

We all know how NBA jersey exchanges go: you give up yours, get the threads from the player you’re exchanging with.

Unless I — and a lot of others on Twitter — am missing something, that’s not what happened between JaVale McGee and Zion Williamson.

After the Los Angeles Lakers beat the New Orleans Pelicans 122-114 on Sunday, cameras caught Williamson giving his jersey to the veteran big man … but the rookie sensation didn’t stay to get McGee’s jersey back. Was it a sign that Zion didn’t want the center’s jersey, a sign of disrespect? Would he get McGee’s back later in the tunnel? Did he not know that it’s a jersey exchange? We don’t know! But I doubt it’s what fans are making it out to be:

Again, I doubt it was Williamson turning his back on McGee on purpose, but we don’t know!
