Zion Williamson calls Lonzo Ball an ‘old school PG’, says he respects his game

Amidst all the madness of the details on the Lakers end of the Anthony Davis trade, on the Pelicans end is the formation of one of the most intriguing teams in the league. New Orleans inherited the near entirety of the Lakers’ young core and will add a generational talent to the mix in Zion Williamson.

At Wednesday’s NBA Draft Media Day, Williamson was asked about his new teammates in Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram. Unsurprisingly, he had high praise for them.

Lonzo, I think he’s a great PG. Very old school and I respect that about him. And Brandon Ingram, I think he’s a bucket getter. I think he can give you 25, 30 a night in the right situation.

The trio should be stalwarts in the Pelicans’ starting next season and likely for many seasons to come. While the fit isn’t seamless, it is massively intriguing and the Pelicans are going to be one of the top League Pass teams not only next season but so long as Ball and Williamson are on the team together. Both are incredibly unique prospects and both brought tons of intrigue into the league.

With the spotlight far less bright in New Orleans, expect Ball, as well as Ingram and Josh Hart, to contribute at a higher level next season and return to the form that made them the top prospects in the draft they were.
