Zinedine Zidane urged to pay 'a king's ransom' for Paul Pogba's Man Utd teammate

BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks says Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane should pay "a king's ransom" to take Marcus Rashford from Manchester United , amid links with his teammate Paul Pogba.

Rashford was on the mark against in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Watford at Old Trafford , netting his 13th strike of the season and ninth since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as United boss in December, initially on an interim basis.

The England forward is out of contract at the end of next season, but has been widely expected to signed a new five-year deal with his boyhood club.

But former Tottenham forward Crooks - who also had a very brief loan spell at United in the 1983/84 season - says the Norwegian could have a problem holding onto the homegrown talent.

The two Real Madrid players Man Utd will demand in exchange for Paul Pogba

"Regular readers of my team of the week column will have seen me state that Jose Mourinho was in danger of destroying the prodigious talent of Marcus Rashford," wrote Crooks , who picked Rashford upfront in his team along with Manchester City's Sergio Aguero.

"Well, I would like to state for the record that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment, along with the support of Mike Phelan, will be the catalyst for Rashford to become a world-class striker instead of just a top-class player.

"The big question is: can they keep him?

"If I was Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, I would pay a king's ransom for him."

Crooks also picked Rashford's United teammate Luke Shaw, who provided the assist for the forward's goal.
