Zinedine Zidane's stance on Man Utd job amid latest Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims

Zinedine Zidane is enjoying life away from the spotlight since leaving his position at Real Madrid boss at the end of last season.

The Frenchman has been linked with potentially replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Manchester United hotseat although the latest indications suggest he is in no rush to return to the dugout.

Zidane walked away from the Spanish capital in May having missed out on landing any trophies last year; being pipped to the title in La Liga by Atletico Madrid on the final day of the season and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League before being ousted by Chelsea.

The former midfield maestro had previously had the Midas touch in the dugout, winning three Champions League titles and two La Liga crowns in three full seasons in the Real Madrid hotseat.

His recent record of success and man-management skills have made him a prime candidate to be in the running to replace Solskjaer should the Old Trafford position become vacant.

Solskjaer is under pressure in the post following a poor run of form in the Premier League as United have picked up just one point from their last three Premier League matches.

An underwhelming draw at home to Everton was between a defeat at home to Aston Villa and alarming 4-2 loss at Leicester City.

The Champions League midweek comeback victory over Atalanta has relieved some of the pressure on Solskjaer but Sunday’s visit of Liverpool in the Premier League may be crucial in his long-term future.

A report in Marca, via Sport Witness, has once again linked Zidane to the possibility of a move to Manchester – with United the one club name-checked by the report in the list of clubs interested in his availability.

The tone of the report suggests that Zidane is in no rush to return to the dugout, even if he would consider offers should they arrive.

He has recently opened a padel centre – a sport based on tennis – near Marseille in southern France and appears to be enjoying his time away from the pressures of management, allowing him more time to focus on his leisure activities and spend more time with his family.

Zidane has only ever coached at Real Madrid, managing 263 matches across his two spells in charge of the club.

The former midfielder guided the club to three successive Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018 in his first spell, along with the league title in 2017.

He returned in March 2019, ten months after his departure, and led the club to the title in La Liga in his first full season at the helm but finished last season without a trophy.
