Zinedine Zidane refuses to rule out late Real Madrid signing amid Paul Pogba interest

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has refused to rule the possibility of the Spanish giants making a ‘surprise’ late signing amid interest in Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

The European window closes for business on Monday, with an 11pm deadline in place for clubs in Spain and Zidane has been keen to add another star name to his squad.

Madrid have been keeping close tabs on Paul Pogba this summer, but the likelihood of the Frenchman swapping Old Trafford for Bernabéu ahead of Monday’s deadline is virtually non-existent, with United unwilling to let him go.

Discussing the chances of him strengthening his squad ahead of the closure of the window, Zidane, said: “Until Monday everything can happen. One surprise, two surprises. But the important thing is tomorrow’s game.”

“The decisions I make are on the pitch,” he said. “The relationship with the president has always been very good. He is the one who brought me here to play and I will never forget that.

“I do not have to clarify anything because the relationship is good. What you say outside the club I can’t control.”

Reports claim that the Madrid boss, who is currently in his second spell in charge of the club, ‘feels lied to' in the club’s efforts to land Pogba.

It is also suggested that Zidane's 'anger is increasing with each passing day' as he believes that 'Madrid never truly wanted to sign' the United man.
