Zinedine Zidane on collision course with Florentino Perez over Paul Pogba transfer

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is said to be far from happy with Florentino Perez over the failure to land Paul Pogba.

Zidane made the Manchester United midfielder his No.1 transfer target this summer, alongside Eden Hazard, as he looked to rebuild his team.

Hazard arrived in a big-money deal from Chelsea but Real Madrid look set to be frustrated in their attempts to lure Pogba from Old Trafford.

United have no intention of letting the midfielder go once the English transfer window is closed, despite Real having until September 2 to get the deal over the line.

Upon returning to the Bernabeu, Zidane outlined his plans to reshape the squad to president Florentino Perez.

Zidane wanted Hazard and Pogba to come in, among others, and ship out big-earners Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez.

But Real have failed to offload either and Bale's proposed move to China was also blocked.

It leaves Zidane facing up to the prospect of starting the season with the pair, who he does not want, and that is likely to cause further tension with Perez, reports the Mail.

Real are weighing up moves for Christian Eriksen, who has gone public with his desire to make the switch, and Ajax's Donny van de Beek.

But Zidane doesn't want either and had planned to build his midfield around Pogba.

The Frenchman admitted earlier this summer he wanted to leave United with Real his preferred destination ahead of former club Juventus .

United made it clear they wanted at least £120m for Pogba but Real haven't coughed up that fee and a deal now appears dead.
