Zinedine Zidane makes Gareth Bale U-turn in latest Real Madrid statement

Zinedine Zidane has remarkably backtracked on his stance over Gareth Bale's future at Real Madrid .

The Los Blancos boss previously made it clear he wanted Bale out of the Bernabeu, leading the Welshman's agent to label Zidane a "disgrace".

However he now seems to have changed his perception towards the winger, with Bale looking set to stay with the club beyond the transfer deadline, along with fellow outcast James Rodriguez .

Speaking after Madrid's friendly with Roma on Sunday, Zidane said: "James and Bale are players of the squad.

"They are both registered, but anything can happen and I, as a coach of Real Madrid, must count on them.

"I count on them 100 per cent. James has not been summoned [to the squad recently], but this can change. Even before the end of the transfer window, everything can happen."

Bale came on for 29 minutes of the clash with Roma, which ended in a 2-2 draw before the Italian side won it on penalties.

The 30-year-old now looks likely to have some part to play in the season ahead for his side, despite his manager's previous comments.

Zidane said at the end of last month: "We hope he [Bale] leaves soon. It would be best for everyone. We are working on his transfer to a new team.

"I have nothing personal against him, but there comes a time where things are done because they must be done."

Bale was linked with a move elsewhere but Madrid failed to garner any serious interest in the player, except from the Chinese Super League.

An unnamed CSL club is said to have offered Bale a lucrative deal worth more than £1million per week to play in China, but is thought to have turned it down.

The player's agent Jonathan Barnett also ruled out any chance of his client going out on loan.

"There will be no makeshift deals to get him out of the club," Barnett said.

"Gareth is one of the best players on the planet. I can guarantee you he will not be going on loan to any club."

Madrid are now preparing for their opening La Liga fixture of the season on Saturday at Celta Vigo, with just three weeks remaining of the transfer window.
