Zinedine Zidane faces another blow ahead of Chelsea trip as Real Madrid make announcement

Real Madrid return to action on Saturday when they face Osasuna in a huge La Liga clash.

After dropping points last weekend against Real Betis, Los Blancos know victory over a side sitting 11th in the table is crucial in their bid to retain their La Liga crown.

Following the clash with Osasuna, the focus will be on their Champions League semi-final second leg tie against Chelsea on May 5th.

Real Madrid have it all to do at Stamford Bridge following Tuesday night's 1-1 draw as they must score at least once to have any hope of reaching yet another Champions League final.

However, they appear to have suffered a blow before the trip to the capital.

Madrid captain Sergio Ramos kicked and headed every ball against the Blues this week, but he did so from the sidelines as a lack of fitness ruled him out of the fixture.

Although, there was hope the defender would be available for the decider.

Spanish news outlet AS claimed that Real Madrid had always pencilled in Ramos to return for the second leg and the report stated that Zinedine Zidane was to give the 35-year-old some game time in Real's La Liga fixture with Osasuna in order to build up his match practice ahead of the trip to the capital.

But that won't be the case and the squad to face Osasuna has been announced and there's no sign of Ramos.

Real Madrid squad to face Osasuna:

Goalkeepers: Courtois, Lunin and Altube.

Defenders: E. Militão, R. Varane, Nacho, Marcelo, Odriozola and Miguel.

Midfielders: Kroos, Modrić, Casemiro, Isco, Arribas and Blanco.

Forwards : Hazard, Benzema, Asensio, Vini Jr., Mariano and Rodrygo.

Interestingly, Ramos has recently returned to training with teammates and had been doing individual work over the last week or so in the hope of playing some part in Madrid's next two fixtures.

Yet his absence from the squad suggests there may have been a setback in training, or he is being kept back for the Chelsea match.

With that said, Zidane will be hopeful it's the latter as he's already suffered a blow ahead of next week's massive game with the news that Dani Carvajal is injured.
