Zinedine Zidane explains Sergio Reguilon transfer to Tottenham and makes Gareth Bale admission

Tottenham are expected to announce the double signing of Gareth bale and Sergio Reguilon today.

Reguilon will join Spurs on a permanent deal, thought to be for around £27million, with bale returning to the club where he made his name on a one-year loan deal, with an option for a second year.

The 23-year-old full-back is well-regarded in SPain and enjoyed a superb season on loan with Sevilla last year, with Madrid's La Liga rivals unable to fund a permanent move.

Tottenham stepped in and are understood to have agreed a five-year contract that Real have a buyback option inserted into.

So why did Real let him go at all?

Gareth Bale's brilliant welcome to Tottenham

Manager Zinedine Zidane has had his say on the move which is yet to be confirmed in north London.

He said: "We must congratulate Reguilon on the season he had. We have two players per position and I already have two full-backs. I wish him all the best because he had a good season in Seville and he deserves to be at Tottenham."

Bale on the other hand has had a tough time at the Bernabeu in the last few seasons and has looked on the brink of an exit for a number of transfer windows.

And he has finally got his wish, returning to the club "he loves" according to agent Jonathan Barnett.

Zidane has spoken about that deal too, admitting he has not spoken to Bale about the transfer.

He said: "I haven't spoken with Bale. I know what he has done in this team. He has been spectacular for this team, nobody can say otherwise. There are negotiations. If he moves, we only wish him well."
