Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid handed boost ahead of Spurs clash as trio return to training

Spurs continue their preparations for the 2019/20 season on Tuesday as they take part in the Audi Cup in Munich.

Previously featuring in the competition back in 2015 against Real Madrid and AC Milan, Mauricio Pochettino's side will kick-off the two-day tournament against Los Blancos at the Allianz Arena.

Both sides will be looking to get back to winning ways after both fell to defeats in their previous outing.

Spurs finished their tour of the Far East with a 2-1 defeat against Manchester United having beaten Juventus 3-2 in their first match, while Real were hit for seven against rivals Atletico as Diego Simeone's side ran out 7-3 winners in the United States.

The international fixtures in June and the recent Copa America and Africa Cup of Nations competitions has meant that both Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane have had players returning to pre-season training at different times.

The Spanish giants were missing a handful of players out in the United States but they should make their return in the Audi Cup over the next two days.

James Rodriguez, Casemiro and Eder Militao all made their return to training at Real's Valdebebas training ground on Monday morning after representing their countries at the Copa America.

With Militao joining fellow countryman Casemiro at the Santiago Bernabeu following his summer move from Porto, Rodriguez has made his return to the Spanish capital after spending the previous two seasons on loan in Germany at Bayern Munich.

It's unclear if he will still be with Real beyond the transfer deadline at present as he has been linked with a move to Italian giants Napoli.

Real also confirmed that Raphael Varane worked alone out on the pitch prior to the trip to Germany, while Gareth Bale and Luka Jovic worked inside of the state-of-the-art training base.

Last meeting in the Champions League group stage in the 2017/18 season as Spurs sealed a famous win at Wembley, the teams also met in the Audi Cup four years ago as goals from Rodriguez and Bale sealed a 2-0 win for Real.
