Zinedine Ferhat to Rangers latest as opportunity arises amid Marseille and Lille transfer battle

Reported Rangers target Zinedine Ferhat is yet to resolve his future despite Marseille and Lille pushing hard to sign him.

The 28-year-old playmaker was a standout for Nimes in Ligue 1 last season and they are keen to cash in now to raise funds after their relegation.

They have accepted their talisman has no part to play in their bid to return to the top flight and he has managed just five minutes of football so far.

He's been a rumoured target of Steven Gerrard's as he seeks to add to his squad to help defend their Scottish Premiership title.

Ligue 1 champions Lille are also keen on him, however, as are Marseille - which means landing him will be far from straightforward.

That's particularly true after their exit from the Champions League dented both their finances and appeal.

However French outlet Sport are reporting that, despite serious interest from both Ligue 1 sides, a deal is far from complete just yet.

They say that Lille are the favourites with Ferhat preferring a move to the champions, but there remains a reluctance from both teams to meet Nimes' asking price.

Lille are in a privileged position so may well look to other targets if the saga rumbles on - something which could open the door for Rangers to step up their interest.
