Zinedine Ferhat sees transfer fortunes turn as Rangers linked star has new suitors

Another club have pulled out of the running for rumoured Rangers target Zinedine Ferhat, according to reports in France.

The 28-year-old Algerian impressed for Nimes last season but his scintillating form wasn't enough to keep them in Ligue 1.

He scored six times and registered ten assists but his side finished second bottom and dropped into Ligue 2.

The situation has put several big clubs on notice that the playmaker could be available for a cut-price fee, and Steven Gerrard is said to be monitoring him over a potential move to Ibrox.

The Scottish champions face some major competition but reports over the weekend claimed Saint Etienne's interest had cooled.

And now it's being reported by Le10Sport that talks over a potential move to Strasbourg have collapsed.

It's claimed Strasbourg were in advanced talks with Ferhat over a move but personal terms were a sticking point, and he is no longer expected to join the Alsace side.

It clears the runway further for Rangers who have now seen two Ligue 1 big-hitters seemingly give up on landing the Algeria cap.

There is reported interest from Lille and Lyon, but a move to either club is said to hinge on departures - with Renato Sanches and Houssem Aouar heavily linked with moves to England.

Rangers have also been heavily linked with a move for Herenveen's Joey Veerman, with a creative midfielder high on the list of priorities after landing John Lundstram on a free transfer.
