Zinedine Ferhat Rangers transfer update as Steven Gerrard faces French rival for midfielder's signature

Strasbourg are said to be interested in signing Rangers target Zinedine Ferhat this summer, following Nimes' relegation to Ligue 2.

The Moroccan impressed in the French top flight despite a poor season for his team, and he's said to have been monitored by Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson.

The Ibrox club are looking to strengthen their squad for the Champions League campaign, as well as the defence of their Premiership crown.

It appears Rangers will face competition from within France though, with Strasbourg said to be looking to sign Ferhat.

The Algerian international bagged six goals and nine assists in Ligue 1 last season, and new boss Julian Stephan is interested in his signature, according to Footmercato.

Rangers have already moved to get business done this window as they look to avoid the need for late deals.

Nnamdi Ofoborh and Fashion Sakala were signed before the end of last season, while John Lundstram arrived ahead of their first pre-season friendly.

There's likely to be at least one high-profile departure though as the club looks to move toward self sustainability.

Alfredo Morelos has been linked with Porto but Record Sport understands no official offer has been made so far.

Finland international Glen Kamara is attracting interest from the English Premier League after an impressive Euro 2020 and Connor Goldson has just one year remaining on his contract at Ibrox.
