Zinedine Ferhat 'interests' Rangers as Nimes playmaker's contract situation ups the transfer ante

Rangers are reportedly one of several clubs "interested" in Nimes Olympique star Zinedine Ferhat.

The 28-year-old Algerian international has turned heads in Ligue 1 this season despite his team's battle to avoid relegation.

An attacking midfielder, Foot Mercato report Sassuolo, Saint-Etienne and unnamed "top club" in the French top-flight are also keeping a close on him.

Ferhat has scored six goals and registered 10 assists in 32 appearances this term.

His contract at Nimes expires next summer which will alert potential suitors to the prospect of landing him on a cut-price fee.

Steven Gerrard has already moved decisively to further strengthen the Premiership champions ahead of next season.

Jack Simpson and Scott Wright were January additions but their signings' were very much rooted in Rangers' future planning.

Midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh will also head to Ibrox this summer, as will Oostende attacker Fashion Sakala after he agreed a deal with the Ibrox club last week.
