Zinedine Ferhat has Celtic on transfer red alert as wantaway playmaker is a no show for Nimes training

Wantaway Zinedine Ferhat has reportedly attempted to force a January transfer move amid links with Celtic.

It's been a packed window so far for Ange Postecoglou and Nimes playmaker Ferhat is believed to be on the agenda.

The Algeria international is out of contract at the end of the season but reports in France claim he is attempting to manoeuvre a winter window exit.

Ferhat, who has won 12 caps for the African nation, has reportedly attracted interest from Ligue 1 sides St Etienne and Montpellier.

Objectif Gard claim the in-demand midfielder has taken matters into his own hands by refusing to attend training.

Ferhat is said to have told his agent to find him a new club away from the Ligue 2 outfit and has returned to him homeland "to recharge his batteries" ahead of his next move.

The 28-year-old is now free to speak to other clubs and arrange a pre-contract move.

St Etienne's new boss Pascal Dupraz has already confirmed he will try and sign Ferhat as they attempt to avoid relegation from Ligue 1.

He said: "Ferhat is on the short-list, yes. He is an interesting player who has plenty of skill when he plays to his full potential. We are hopeful."

Celtic have already added Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi to their Premiership title push so far this window and are set to bring in Johnny Kenny from Sligo Rovers.
