Long queues formed outside banks in Zimbabwe on Tuesday, as people waited to receive new coins and banknotes.

The money is being released slowly to try to ease cash shortages that have lasted for over two years. Most Zimbabweans use electronic forms of payment, but often have to pay a higher price for goods. Economists say the new notes, once released, may not find their way back into the banks. RFI's Ollia Horton spoke to correspondent Ryan Truscott
