When a crocodile ripped the arm of Zanele Ndlovu, 25, in a river north of Zimbabwe while she was canoeing with her British fiancé, no one expected that she and her husband-to-be will marry in the hospital just five days after the accident.
Zanele described to Reuters TV how a mission in one of Africa’s longest rivers had been careless about what happened to her and her fiancé on April 30, leaving the couple scrambling for their lives after being attacked by a crocodile that punctured their boat.
The trip’s guides pulled out Zanele and Fox from the water, and she was taken to the Bulawayo hospital for treatment, after her arm was bitten off by the crocodile. Doctors amputated her shattered arm just above the elbow.
What happened to Zanele’s arm didn’t prevent her from saying “I do,” just five days after the accident, at the hospital’s church.
The bride told Reuters TV that she saw no reason to cancel, despite the accident.
