Ziggy Gordon: Hamilton fans can set us up for basement crunch

Ziggy Gordon has urged Hamilton fans to travel to Livingston in numbers tonight and back the side to the hilt.

The defender says a vocal crowd can help inspire Accies to take points from what is a crucial midweek clash, ahead of the visit by relegation rivals St Mirren on Saturday.

Gordon says everybody at the club is eager to atone for the 5-0 humiliation at Kilmarnock on Saturday, and hopes tonight's game provides that opportunity.

He said: "I think Hamilton fans know the feeling of this, and it doesn't bring me any pleasure in saying that, but the fact is they've been there and done it, and they also know what we're capable of doing.

"All I can say is we can only apologise for the performance on Saturday, but we urge you all to come on Wednesday.

"We all know what happens at Hamilton after a very poor performance - we usually put in a very memorable performance, and that's what we want to do on Wednesday.

"Everyone will be there, giving it everything they have. We might not win the game against Livingston, but I can tell you right now that everyone will be giving 100 per cent."

Gordon says he has enough confidence in Hamilton's squad to know Saturday's result was a blip, and says the players will recover.

He said: "It's not going to difficult to bounce back. I know the players that we have, and it's the easiest time to bounce back, after a poor performance.

"It's the best time to play, and the best time of the season to play. It's a night-time game away to Livingston and we're going to make it as difficult for them as I'm sure they will for us.

"The whole thing is in our own hands. I'm not concerned about St Mirren, I'm not concerned about Dundee - no-one in that dressing room is concerned with anybody but ourselves, and that's the only focus that we need.

"We have to match Livingston first and foremost for effort and endeavour, and we will. Everyone will be there giving it everything they have."
