'Zidane will be crying' - Spurs fans go wild after Gareth Bale grabs first comeback goal

Gareth Bale is back.

Spurs fans have been itching to see the best of the Welsh star since he re-joined the club this summer on loan from Real Madrid, and the 31-year-old delivered against Brighton.

Harry Kane had opened the scoring against Graham Potter's side in the first half, but were pegged back after a dubious goal for Tariq Lamptey that was awarded despite an apparent foul in the build up.

With Jose Mourinho searching for attacking options, Bale was summoned from the bench, and did not take long to deliver.

Just three minutes after coming on, he got on the end of Sergio Reguilon's cross to head home at the near post, beckoning a new era for the Wales international in North London and sending Spurs fans wild.

Tottenham hung on to claim all three points against Brighton, recovering from their midweek disappointment against Antwerp to rise up to second in the Premier League table.

Despite that Europa League defeat that saw anger from Mourinho, Spurs have been impressive domestically, going five games unbeaten in the league.

That included the impressive win over Southampton and the mauling of Manchester United away at Old Trafford - though there was also an agonising late equaliser from West Ham in their encounter in North London back in October.
