Zidane turn shows Hamilton's confidence, says derby hero Hakeem Odoffin

Hamilton hero Hakeem Odoffin reckons his cheeky Zidane turn in their 4-1 derby victory over Motherwell shows the confidence coursing through Accies right now.

After a fantastic display in a 1-1 draw with Rangers, Accies backed that up with a derby demolition of the Steelmen on Saturday.

One of the many highlights for fans was the defender's moment of magic in the first half when he swivelled past Tony Watt in the style of French World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane and backed that up with a neat backheel to tee up a cross into the box.

Odoffin, who joined Accies from Livingston in the summer, admitted he surprised himself with his silky skills, but reckons it's proof he and Accies are finally finding their feet after a stuttering season.

He said: "I don’t know where my Zidane turn came from in the first half.

"It’s just feeling comfortable I guess.

"It’s one of those where you don’t really think about it and it just happens.

"I kept possession then got a bit lost and tried to do it again, but we’ll take the good with the bad."

Gaffer Brian Rice has given Odoffin a platform to perform in midfield, having shifted the 22-year-old from defence earlier in the season.

He performed both sides of the game superbly on Saturday, earning him Lanarkshire Live Sport man of the match for a display that boasted a host of impressive stats.

Of his manager, Odoffin added: "He’s positive. He keeps us grounded, number one - but he always keeps us motivated.

"The position we are in is never going to be easy and there’s always noise on the outside."
