Zhang Yimou To Receive Golden Mulberry Lifetime Achievement Award

Zhang Yimou, a prominent figure in China's Fifth Generation of filmmakers, is set to be honored with the Golden Mulberry Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's Far East Film Festival (FEFF). Known for his acclaimed works such as 'Raise the Red Lantern,' 'Red Sorghum,' 'To Live,' 'Hero,' and 'House of the Flying Daggers,' Zhang has made significant contributions to the world of cinema. In addition to his directorial achievements, he also directed the memorable opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Joining Zhang in receiving the prestigious Golden Mulberry award is Taiwanese producer Chiu Fu-sheng, a legendary figure in the Asian film industry. Chiu is recognized for his collaborations with renowned filmmakers like Hou Hsiao-hsien and Zhang, producing notable films such as 'A City of Sadness,' 'The Puppetmaster,' 'Raise the Red Lantern,' and 'To Live.'

FEFF, an esteemed Italian film festival held in Udine, will showcase a diverse lineup of 74 films from 11 countries at its 26th edition. The festival will feature 47 films in competition and 28 non-competition entries, including 15 world premieres, 24 international premieres, 19 European premieres, and 13 Italian premieres.

The opening night of FEFF26 will kick off with the screening of the Chinese comedy 'Yolo,' directed by Jia Ling, followed by Park Young-ju's action comedy 'Citizen of a Kind.' Notable highlights in the lineup include Kim Sung-su's historical action film '12.12: The Day,' Jang Jae-hyun's horror film 'Exhuma' starring Choi Min-sik, and Kazuya Shiraishi's samurai movie 'Goban-giri.'

Other featured films at the festival include Jun Lana's LGBT comedy 'Becky & Badette,' Norris Wong's musical 'The Lyricist Wanna Be,' and Nick Cheung's horror-thriller 'Peg O'My Heart.' Hong Kong director Herman Yau will present two action films, 'Moscow Mission' and 'Raid of the Lethal Zone,' offering audiences a diverse cinematic experience.

FEFF26 is scheduled to run from April 24 to May 2, providing film enthusiasts with an exciting lineup of international cinema and celebrating the outstanding contributions of filmmakers like Zhang Yimou and Chiu Fu-sheng.
