Zero ScotRail trains will run during Glasgow Cop26 after staff offered 'rotten' pay rise

Zero ScotRail trains will run during Glasgow Cop26 after staff were offered a 'rotten' pay rise.

Scotland's public transport is set to be crippled during the major climate change summit as train services all come to a halt.

It comes after furious staff were offered 'lousy' wage increase of nearly five per cent which they branded unacceptable.

Speaking on Good Morning Scotland, Scottish organiser Michael Hogg said it was a 'kick in the teeth' to workers if current demands are not met.

It comes after union bosses confirmed yesterday that ScotRail would come to a standstill after its members voted for further action amid a pay dispute.

Mr Hogg said: “This offer is not worthy of consideration, it’s a kick in the teeth to workers. That’s our position.

“The offer does not meet union policy. It’s a rotten, lousy offer.

"We’re seeking meaningful talks to find a solution to the current dispute.

“The offer is 4.7 per cent over two years with efficiency savings and what that means is my members are expected to sell hard-earned terms and conditions in order to get a payrise. That’s not acceptable.”

He went onto confirm 'every service' would be affected and claimed members had been 'stonewalled' by ScotRail and other rail firms for the past 18 months.

But SNP transport chief Graeme Dey claimed the latest pay offer was the best staff would get and urged union bosses to take it.

It comes after train services have been limited on Sundays in recent months due to continued industrial action.
