Zach Zenner’s release highlights the Bob Quinn roster transformation

And then there were six…

When the Lions parted ways with running back Zach Zenner on Tuesday, it left only six players who have been with the team since Bob Quinn took over as Detroit’s GM in January of 2016.

On top of that startling figure, three of them are specialists:

  • Long snapper Don Muhlbach
  • Punter Sam Martin
  • Kicker Matt Prater

The other holdovers from the Martin Mayhew era are QB Matthew Stafford, CB Darius Slay and safety Quandre Diggs. All of those players have signed new contracts with the team since Quinn took over.

It’s a radical transformation in just three and a half years.
