Zendaya whips out show-stopping after-party dress to celebrate Emmy win

Zendaya made history as the youngest ever two-time Emmy winner for acting, and also the only Black woman to win the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a drama series twice.

She is also rapidly making history in the unofficial best-dressed category, with the 26-year-old’s Emmy look being one of the most shared from the event.

And while her Emmy win wasn’t at all surprising, her less widely circulated second look definitely was — and we love a Zendaya red-carpet moment.

Zendaya, full name Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, opted for a strapless black Valentino ball gown at the awards ceremony, which was cinched at its bodice waist by a matching black bow. She paired the dress with Bulgari jewellery and a big, blown-out up-do.

It was in this first gown that she collected the Emmy for her performance in HBO’s Euphoria, where she plays teen drug addict Rue Bennett. Safe to say this character doesn’t wear nearly as much Valentino as our girl Z.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me,” she said in her emotional acceptance speech. “I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like they are a Rue, I want you to know I’m so grateful for your stories and I carry them with me, and I carry them with her.”

Zendaya also won an Emmy in the same category for her portrayal as Rue last year, where she was dressed in an internet-breaking emerald silk gown with a skin-coloured, boned bodice and vivid red hair.

Her stylist, Law Roach, praised her Emmy win on Instagram, writing “She’s a WINNER baby” under a picture of Zendaya in her first gown. He then went on to share a video of the Euphoria star in an elegant second gown, which she had changed into for the after-party.

“The second Emmy deserves a second dress,” Roach joked. Zendaya can be seen proudly holding her Emmy aloft and grinning while wearing a stunning crimson shoulderless dress.

The dress, also Valentino, featured a deep plunge and a small train that puddled around the star’s feet. She changed her hair to an up-do for the second look and removed the hefty Bulgari necklace.

Zendaya and Law Roach have been working together since the star was 14 years old, at the height of her Disney days. Roach, who prefers the term “Image Consultant”, has also worked with the likes of Bella Hadid, Celine Dio,n and Ariana Grande, as well as Zendaya’s Euphoria co-star Hunter Schafer and Kerri Washington, who he also styled for this year’s Emmys.

Sydney Sweeney, another Euphoria co-star of Zendaya’s, also attended the awards last night as she was nominated in two separate categories: Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Anthology, for her role as Olivia in The White Lotus, and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, for playing Cassie in Euphoria.

The star sadly didn’t take home any awards, losing out to Jennifer Coolidge — also from The White Lotus — and Ozark’s Julia Garner.
