Zendaya, Jameela Jamil and Kirsten Dunst hit the red carpet for the 2019 InStyle Awards in LA

On Monday night the InStyle Awards took over the Getty Museum in LA to honour the best and brightest talents from television to fashion: from a much deserved Icon of the Year for Veep’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus through to a very royal nod for one of Meghan Markle’s best pals.

Stars upstaged the artworks on display as Kirsten Dunst, Louis-Dreyfus, Zendaya, Jameela Jamil and Jessica Alba turned out in their red carpet finery.

Kirsten Dunst wore a tiered Rodarte gown, accompanied by the designers who brought it to life: Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy. Dunst presented the duo with the Designer of the Year award.

Zendaya and her stylist Law Roach recreated their matching Met Gala outfits earlier this year in complementary Givenchy Haute Couture looks. Roach, a celebrity stylist who has also worked with Ariana Grande, Gwen Stefani and Celine Dion, was presented with the Stylist of the Year award by Zendaya, who he has been working with since she was a Disney Channel star.

As Zendaya welcomed him to the stage, Roach joked that he was worried people would “think I’m Billy Porter, but I’m not”.

Another of Roach’s clients, Jameela Jamil, hit the red carpet in a show-stopping Prabal Gurung feathered gown. The dress, which featured a large feathered skirt, also featured a plunging neckline. Jamil joked on her Instagram stories that her breasts were “trying to prison break”.

Although the Duchess of Sussex was not at the awards ceremony, her close friend and wedding make-up artist Daniel Martin was honoured with Make-Up Artist of the Year by Jessica Alba.

Alba, who runs multimillion dollar company Honest Beauty, is one of Martin's regular clients and arrived in a navy gown and white mini bag.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who many felt had been snubbed at the Emmy Awards earlier this year, received InStyle’s Icon of the Year. She wore a silver dress with a square neckline and matching heels.

Her Veep co-star Tony Hale recreated his role as personal aide Gary Walsh on the show, holding InStyle editor Laura Brown’s clutch for her at the venue.
