Zayn Malik shuts down hopes of One Direction reunion revealing he has cut ties with his former bandmates

One Direction fans have been left helpless after Zayn Malik shut down any hope of him joining a reunion with his former bandmates.

The 25-year-old singer revealed he no longer speaks to Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles or Louis Tomlinson, accusing them of being “snide” after he left the group in 2015.

Opening up on the fallout, he told British Vogue: “I ain't spoke to any of them for a long time, to be honest with you. That's just the way it is.

“There's things that happen and things that were said after I left. Snide things. Small things that I would never have expected.”

Moving on: Malik is done with the pop group (Scott Trindle)

Devastated fans lamented the news, with one tweeting: "It’s been 3 years and I still dunno how I feel about (sic)."

Another wrote: "I do understand their mentality. The boys had a huge fame in such a short time there was never any slow progression for them to take it in. They went boom boom boom as Zayn said. They all have such different personalities but somehow they made it work for 5 years."

A third added: "Oh my God Zayn."

Overwhelming: Malik struggled with fame at a young age (Scott Trindle)

Speaking about his time in the band, Malik continued: “We went from theatres, to arenas, to stadiums - there was never any sort of bridge between. Just boom, boom, boom.

“I guess that kind of progression to any mind - but especially when you're 17, 18 - it kind of affects you a little bit.

“People take it different ways - especially when there are five different personalities. The relationships had broken apart.

“That's just the way it is. People move on, people grow apart, people grow up.”

Liam Payne hints at One Direction reunion

The Pillow Talk singer also told the publication that his relationship with model girlfriend Gigi Hadid has been “great".

Malik explained: “Everything is great. She’s super-organised and I’m really not. It helps that she can get things together for me a little bit.

“I lean on her a lot.”

Malik and Hadid were dating for over two years before they split earlier this year.

They re-kindled their romance in June after just a short stint apart.
