Former One Direction band member Zayn Malik is looking to begin a career in film acting, it has emerged.
Gurinder Chadha, director of Bend It Like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice, told the Daily Mirror that she had spoken to Malik about potentially working together.
“We’ve met and spoken,” she said. “He trained as an actor first then became part of the band.”
Both attended the Asian awards on 17 April, where Chadha, who is currently working on the Bend It Like Beckham stage musical, first raised the possibility that Malik was thinking of adding acting to his repertoire. She said: “I don’t have a part in mind for Zayn just yet but hopefully in the future.”
