Zarif: Military Strike Against Iran Would Result in 'All-Out War'

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif via Reuters

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif warned on Thursday that any military strike against Iran would result in “all-out war.”

“I am making a very serious statement that we don’t want war; we don’t want to engage in a military confrontation ... But we won’t blink to defend our territory,” Zarif told CNN in an interview, Reuters reported.

For his part, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo described an attack on Saudi oil facilities on Saturday as "an act of war."

However, Zarif said on Twitter that what he described as the "B team" - was trying to deceive US President Donald Trump into a war against Iran.

Meanwhile, Iran's Revolutionary Guards' commander said Thursday the country is "so powerful" that it is "falsely" accused of being behind any regional incident.

Tehran has repeatedly denied any responsibility for the attacks against the oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, which the Houthi militias have claimed.
