Zarah Sultana compares herself and Jeremy Corbyn to Gallagher brothers amid chaotic launch of Your Party

Zarah Sultana compared herself and Jeremy Corbyn to the Gallagher brothers as she insisted “the show is back on the road” following the chaotic launch of Your Party.

The Independent MPs threatened each other with legal action after the party’s membership portal was launched in September, though neither is thought to be pursuing this.

Speaking at The World Transformed festival in Manchester, the hometown of Oasis, Ms Sultana said: “Obviously you’ve all seen what’s happened over the past few weeks but I’m here to tell you the show is back on the road.

“I know that I’m in Manchester so I have to reference Liam and Noel Gallagher. If they can do it, of course me and Jeremy can.

“The only difference between us is that Jeremy still thinks Arsenal are still going to win the Premier League, and we know that they will always come second place with a second-place trophy.”

Oasis split in 2009 following a backstage fight between the Gallaghers at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, before reuniting last year for a world tour.

And Your Party are keen to put on a show of unity after Ms Sultana allegedly sent an “unauthorised email” inviting people to become paid members without Mr Corbyn’s knowledge.

She accused the former Labour leader of overseeing a “sexist boys’ club”, but later acknowledged that supporters felt “demoralised”.

Meanwhile, Mr Corbyn said the “false membership system” collected cash and data without authorisation. He referred the matter to the Information Commissioner.

At TWT, Mr Corbyn said Your Party must not “descend into endless internal discussion” and should hold at least one event a month in each of its branches to be “1,000 per cent relevant all the time”.

Your Party will hold its inaugural conference at the end of November in Liverpool, with a total of 13,000 members to be selected at random to attend.
