Zara Tindall speaks of pride for Queen granny over historic coronavirus speech

Zara Tindall has spoken about the Queen's coronavirus speech, saying the royal family are "very proud of her".

Last night the monarch called on the country to stand strong as it battles the outbreak of the deadly bug.

And her grandaughter Zara has revealed the family's pride at her words.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Monday, Zara said: "We're obviously very proud and what she said is completely 100% what the country needed.

"I hope that everyone listens and we can try and get back to normal and as we're trying to do today and support our NHS as much as we can."

GMB host Piers Morgan asked Zara what she thought about those who are ignoring the government guidance and going outside to sunbathe in parks or meet up with friends.

She said she sympathised, explaining: "I think it's hard being locked up and not being allowed to do what you normally do and getting fresh air into your lungs."

Zara added: "We're very lucky out in the country we're on the farm we've still got to look after the horses.

"I can't imagine how hard it is for people in the city but try to stay safe and not put pressure on the NHS."

The Queen's historic address came just hours after Britain’s coronavirus death toll rose 621 in a day to 4,934 - including 29 patients with no underlying health conditions.

Her son Prince Charles has been diagnosed with the condition, though has been showing mild symptoms.

She ended her speech with the words: "We will succeed - and that success will belong to every one of us.

"We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again."

*Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV
