Zara Tindall and husband Mike welcome new baby boy as Queen's 10th great-grandchild

Zara Tindall has given birth to a baby boy - the Queen’s 10th great-grandchild.

Her husband Mike Tindall confirmed the news on his The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast - with the couple choosing the name Lucas Philip Tindall.

Rugby pro Mike described his weekend as “crazy”, saying “Saturday, loved all the rugby...I was actually genuinely angry after the England game.”

He then continued saying: “And then Sunday got even better because a little baby boy arrived at my house”.

The Queen will add a number of great-grandchildren to the family this year, with Eugenie giving birth last month and Meghan expecting in the summer.

Zara and Mike are already proud parents to daughters Lena Elizabeth, who was born in 2018, and six-year-old Mia.

The Mirror reports that Mike previously revealed they were expecting a baby on the podcast, saying: “It’s been a good week for me, had a little scan last week - third Tindall on its way.”

On his wife Zara, who has spoken about two miscarriages she has experienced, Tindall added: “Z is very good, always careful because of things that have happened in the past, and really looking forward to it.”

Asked about the baby’s due date, Tindall remained tight lipped and replied: “We like to play our cards close to the chest.”

But he revealed his eldest child has not been told the good news: “We haven’t told Mia yet because we knew she would tell everyone at school, now that we’ve gone through the scan, yes (of) course we’ll tell her.”

“She’ll be happy about it, she’s been requesting another sister or brother, so we’ve hopefully fulfilled that role for her.

“She just wants something different now, Lena’s growing up she’s two-and-a-half now, she wants something younger to play with and dress up.”

Zara, a champion equestrian rider who won a team silver in the London 2012 Olympics, and former England rugby player Tindall have been together for 17 years.

They met during England’s Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003 and got married in Edinburgh back in July 2011.

Zara is the daughter of Princess Anne and the second eldest of the Queen’s eight grandchildren.

The couple previously spoke about their heartbreak when Zara suffered a miscarriage just before Christmas in 2016.

Zara told the Sunday Times that for a time “you don’t talk about it because it’s too raw”.

She added: “But as with everything, time’s a great healer.”

Today, a spokeswoman for the couple said: “Zara and Mike Tindall are happy to announce the birth of their third child, Lucas Philip Tindall.”

The baby was born on Sunday March 21, weighing 8lbs 4oz.
