Zara shoppers 'literally gagging' after spotting 'weird' £13 earrings

Zara shoppers were left "literally gagging" after spotting a photo of its £12.99 gold hoop earrings online.

High street giant Zara is arguably one of the most popular shops in the city centre, with queues to get in its stores often stretching around buildings.

The retailer has amassed an extensive following of fashion fans, keen to snap up its latest products.

Parody Instagram account Awkward Zara has been making waves on social media after mocking some of the brand's campaign and website photos, as well as some of its less traditional outfits - and it already boasts more than 65k followers.

Zara fans are familiar with the brand's aesthetic, with models posing on its website at quirky angles more commonly associated with magazine editorials, while product shots are often modelled on inanimate objects like teddy bears and even rotten fruit.

This has the potential to make it a little tricky for shoppers to figure out how to style some items - with @awkwardzara delighting its growing social media presence by pointing out the funny side.

The comedic account recently shared a screenshot from the retailer's website showing its new gold hoop earrings, which cost £12.99. In the image, Zara's earrings are laying on top of a black tomato.

Captioning the image, @awkwardzara quipped: "this is going straight into the Zara styling hall of fame".

Amused followers and Zara fans alike took to the comments section to share their thoughts.

Felicity said: "I know there are bigger questions to be asked here but why is the tomato brown?"

Sandy said: "Love it from my ears to-ma-toes".

Molly said: "I can’t believe this is real. Or can I?"

Chelsi simply commented: "NO".

Tracy said: "This literally made me gag a little".

Katrina said: "STOP IT ZARA".

Kim commented: "this is next level weird".

Lauren said: "This makes me feel uneasy".

Chrissie added: "This is so weird!!"

Other shoppers simply posted crying laughing emojis while some tagged their friends to direct them to the post.
