Love Island star Zara McDermott has been left “heartbroken” after splitting from Adam Collard, telling fans she tried so hard to make the relationship work.
The couple met on the ITV2 series last summer, with McDermott being the third islander Collard struck up a romance with after Kendall Rae Knight and Rosie Williams.
McDermott broke the news of their split on Instagram and said despite the break up Collard will always have a “special place” in her heart.
“I am heartbroken to announce that Adam and I have parted ways,” she said.
“I love him very much and will always have a special place in my heart for him and our time spent together. I have tried so hard to be the best person I can possibly be and to make it work.
“Sometimes in life, you just aren’t enough for someone; no matter what you do for them or how much you try to be.”
She finished: “For everyone asking if I’m ok, I don’t know that I am.”
The announcement comes days after McDermott was said to be upset after Collard, who has the initial 'Z' tattooed on his hand, partied with model Brittany Archer on a night out with Jack Fincham.
“Zara wasn’t happy after discovering Adam was out with the group that included Brittany,” a source told The Sun.
“They ended up having a big argument. Close pals have confirmed they’re at breaking point.”
The couple are the latest islanders to call time on their summer romance with Josh Denzel and Kaz Crossley announcing their split last month, days after Megan Barton Hanson and Wes Nelson.
Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer are the only remaining couple still together.
