Zara and Mike Tindall mark extra special day following loved-up Australian getaway

They ditched the cold UK winter for the hot summer of Australia for a fun-filled getaway.

But after enjoying time with friends over the last week, Zara and Mike Tindall will be focused on a very special day for their family today.

That's because the eldest of their three children Mia is celebrating her birthday today - and she turns nine.

Mia, a granddaughter of Princess Anne and one of the late Queen's 12 great-grandchildren, was born on this day in 2014.

The youngster is a similar age to fellow royal kids Prince George and Princess Charlotte and in the last year made appearances at the Firm's traditional walk to church on Christmas day and at the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

In fact, almost seven years ago, she ended up stealing the show in the Queen's beautiful 90th birthday portrait taken with her younger relatives in a totally unscripted move, described as "naughty".

In the photo, taken by celebrated photographer Annie Leibovitz, the Queen sits among her then great-grandchildren and some of her youngest grandchildren.

But the one stand-out youngster in the image is Mia, who is pictured holding Her Late Majesty's trusty black handbag after taking a shine to it.

But rather than the Queen telling her to put it back, the monarch allowed the then-two-year-old to keep hold of it.

Dad Mike previously told Good Morning Britain: "It just happened at the right time. She was being a bit naughty.

"The Queen got it quite right when she told her 'just hold the handbag now' and she did that. It ended up being a great photo of her."

Mike and Zara, a niece of King Charles, will likely be making the day as special as possible for Mia as she celebrates her birthday alongside their two other children Lena, aged four, and Lucas, who is almost two.

Her big day comes after the Tindalls were spotted looking loved up and posed for pictures while attending the Magic Millions horse racing event in Australia last week.

The pair seemed to be in high spirits at the recent event in Queensland, with the married couple seen posing alongside some friends

One of the photos shows the couple - who have been married since 2011 - embraced in a kiss.

It was a return Down Under for the couple, as Mike had been in Australia last year while taking part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here late last year, where he finished fourth.
