Zander Clark in Rangers transfer view as club line up Allan McGregor replacement

Rangers are watching St Johnstone keeper Zander Clark’s contract situation closely.

The Saints stopper, who is currently away with Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad, is out of contract in the summer and has yet to agree to an extension.

Rangers are looking at various goalkeeping options with Allan McGregor’s deal also up in the summer.

If veteran McGregor decides to hang up his gloves then Rangers will consider a number of alternatives, including Clark.

The Scottish champions would want a keeper to come in and compete with Jon McLaughlin and Robby McCrorie next term.

Clark’s heroics played a major part in Saints lifting the Premier Sports Cup and Scottish Cup last season, including a huge penalty shoot-out performance at Ibrox in the latter.

Saints have opened talks over a new deal but know this is the 29-year-old’s opportunity to land a big contract elsewhere.

A number of English Championship and League One sides are also interested in the big keeper who has come through the ranks at McDiarmid Park.

Clark’s form this season has finally seen him rewarded with a Scotland call-up and then a recall for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers with Moldova and Denmark.
