Zambia grapples with alcoholism

Zambia has a major alcohol problem.

That’s according to a report by the World Health Organization that indicates 76 percent of men and 33 percent of women in Zambia consume too much.

The report also notes that 43 percent of children consume alcohol.

Health authorities are warning that alcoholism is a ticking time bomb that is already contributing to 80 percent of psychiatric conditions in the country’s only mental health, Chainama Hills in the capital.
