Zak Vyner completes Aberdeen loan transfer and could play against Rijeka

Bristol City defender Zak Vyner has completed his move to Aberdeen.

And the 22-year-old could feature in this evening's Europa League qualifier against Rijeka in Croatia.

Vyner has agreed a season-long loan deal at Pittodrie and is eligible to play in tonight’s first-leg in the NHK Rijeka Stadium as the Dons registered him before last night’s transfer deadline.

Aberdeen have limited defensive cover and made hurried arrangements to fly Vyner out to Croatia where he has joined up with his new team mates ahead of tonight's clash which kicks off at 7pm.

Vyner spent last season on loan at Rotherham and will strengthen Derek McInnes ' back line as question marks hang over Scott McKenna 's future.

McKenna handed in a transfer request at the weekend after failed bids from QPR and Nottingham Forest but is in Croatia and set to play tonight.

Ash Taylor is still out injured although Mikey Devlin has travelled but he  has been out for several weeks with a hamstring problem.

Aberdeen will be looking for a repeat of their famous 3-0 win over Rijeka back in 2015.

Vyner came through the Bristol City academy and had loan spells at Accrington Stanley and Plymouth Argyle before moving to Rotherham.

He has made 13 appearances for the Robins since being handed his debut by Lee Johnson in 2016.
