Zak Lovelace a Rangers transfer target as chase heats up for teenage Millwall prodigy

Rangers are among a growing number of sides who are trailing Millwall’s teenage sensation Zak Lovelace.

The 15-year-old striker, six days short of his sixteenth birthday, is regarded as one of the brightest talents to emerge at the club in recent years.

Lovelace is already attracting interest from the English Premier League, from sides such as Leicester City and former club Brighton.

Rangers have had watched him regularly this season.

He became the New Den’s second youngest player when he came off the bench against Coventry City last month, having to get permission from his school to play.

Millwall boss Gary Rowett has let Lovelace train with his first team on several occasions this season and hopes that will help to keep him in the UK capital.

Rowett previously predicted: “He’s going to have a big career ahead of him, I’m sure.”

Millwall have massive hopes for Lovelace who has been at the London club since he was 13, having been at Crystal Palace and Brighton.

They are desperately trying to convince him to remain and to sign a professional contract.

Lovelace has scored more than 20 goals for the Lions playing at Under-16, 18 and 23 levels.
