Zak Hardaker slams own performance in Wigan Warriors defeat to Hull FC

Zak Hardaker has issued an apology for his “sh***y” performance in Wigan Warriors’ Challenge Cup quarter-final defeat to Hull FC.

Adrian Lam’s were beaten 20-10 by Hull FC at Emerald Headingley on Saturday as the Black and Whites deservedly booked a semi-final date with St Helens.

Tonga forward Chris Satae scored twice and Adam Swift also touched down as tries from Jake Bibby and Dom Manfredi proved in vain for the Warriors.

Lam fumed afterwards: “It’s devastating – we just didn’t give ourselves a chance.

“There were that many errors in it that we couldn’t build any momentum or pressure, it was really frustrating to watch.

“We were our worst enemy and I didn’t see that coming. The players are upset and disappointed and so they should be.”

Now Hardaker has taken to social media to admit he was some way below his best against Brett Hodgson’s side.

The 29-year-old has emerged as one of Super League’s most influential players in the opening weeks of the season.

But after his display against Hull, Hardaker posted on Twitter: “Well just about got over my sh***y performance from the weekend. I apologise, wasn’t good enough at all. It’s a new week so all focus goes into our next game! I’ll not make the same mistakes again. We go again.”

Lam could make changes for Monday’s Super League trip to neighbours Leigh Centurions, with Bevan French pushing for a return to the full-back slot he occupied ahead of Hardaker for much of last season.
