Zak Hardaker reveals injury setback as Wigan Warriors suffer blow

Wigan Warriors star Zak Hardaker has revealed he will be sidelined “for a few weeks” but insists he will be raring to go for the start of the 2022 campaign.

The England international was out for a period midway through last season due to a slipped disc in his neck.

He returned to action at the back end of the campaign but has now been forced to undergo an operation on the nagging problem.

Hardaker had surgery on the injury today and posted on social media: “Just so people don't ask a million questions, had a slipped disc in my neck for months.

“Got it checked a few weeks ago and it's got little worse. Nothing to major. Be out for a few weeks but be back firing for the season.”

Hardaker’s future has been the source of speculation amid rumours linking him with a return to a club in his native Yorkshire.

However, the former Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers star now appears set to stay at the DW Stadium as the Matty Peet era gets underway.
