Zak Hardaker and Joel Tomkins discover bans after receiving disciplinary charges

Zak Hardaker will serve a two-match ban after being charged for the incident that saw him sent-off in Wigan Warriors' defeat to Catalans.

Hardaker was red-carded in the final minutes of Wigan's disastrous 48-0 defeat to Catalans, which compounded a miserable night for Adrian Lam's side.

He has now been handed a Grade C headbutting charge which has seen him suspended for two matches. He leaving the Warriors without a recognised fullback for two games.

Both Jai Field and Bevan French are injured, leaving Wigan with serious problems in the outside backs ahead of their clash with Leeds Rhinos.

Oliver Gildart and Liam Marshall both remain on the sidelines and Willie Isa, who has been filling in at centre, has missed the last two games through injury.

But Joel Tomkins could suffer a more severe punishment that Hardaker, despite being sin-binned rather than sent off.

The forward has been handed a Grade D punching charge, which normally comes with a three to five-game ban.

Elsewhere, Matty Ashurst will serve a two-match ban as a result of a Grade C dangerous throw. The incident took place in Wakefield's victory over Huddersfield.

George Griffin is set to miss Castleford's Challenge Cup semi-final with Warrington Wolves after a one-match ban for a Grade B charge.

Ben Reynolds and James Gavet of Leigh and Huddersfield respectively have also received one-match bans. Raynolds was charged for tripping and Gavet for raising his knees in a tackle.
